I know that is a really low price range, but don't we receive some sort of student discount? Please help us!!! If you know a pilot could they maybe give us discounted tickets? It's for charity!

Resolved Question: Would this be considered as a threat?

I recently booked an international flight for my son through an internet discount airfare company. Yesterday, my son realized that he will not receive his passport in time for the departure on Sunday, June 21st and called the company to change his departure date to either June 24th or June 25th. The eticket he received states that airline penalties and a processing fee by the company will be charged in the event of changes. The company told my son the airline penalties would be $247.00 and the company fee would be $100.00 -- but then they placed him on hold and returned to tell him his ticket would cost an additional $5,000.00. My son was terribly upset, hung up and called me. I immediately called the company, was on hold for 45 minutes before speaking with a customer representative. When I tried to change the departure date, I was told the airline penalties would be $350.00 and the processing fee would be $100.00. The customer rep placed me on hold for 5 minutes, then returned and told me there would be an additional charge of $7,000.00. I read to her the statement on the eticket about changes, we argued about this for a little bit, then I insisted on speaking with her supervisor. Again, went through the same ordeal with the supervisor. It was difficult to understand the supervisor and the customer rep -- they are with a call middle in India. I am preparing to call the toll free number now, hopefully talk with someone in the U.S.. This morning, I have investigated this company's practices and discovered it is fraud. My question is if I tell customer service that I am prepared to file charges and complaints with every authorities if this cannot be resolved reasonably, will my statement be considered a threat?

Resolved Question: Does military receive discounts from airlines when called in?

My family is new to the army and we are planning our vacation out in 2010. The subject of airfare was brought up in a conversation with a neighbor. She told me that I should never buy my tickets online. I am supposed to have my husband call in to the airline, and they will give him a very good discount because he is military. I would ask my neighbor again to give me more exact information on the subject, but she moved. My questions are: Is it just my husband or the whole family? Does it apply to vacations with proof that he has the approved paperwork to take leave? Is there some place on our base in which I could receive discount flight tickets?

Resolved Question: Can you give advice for traveling to Disney this June?

My daughter is in a dance competition and the competition hotel is the Dolphin in Orlando for 5 days 6/30-7/4, but its full so we have the option of staying at the Swan or a hotel in walking distance. I dont have much money due to the economy so am considering driving or maybe paying something each month toward the hotel since its the biggest expense. Does anyone have any HELPFUL advice please?? My daughter is so excited to go to Nationals with her dance team but Im wincing from the costs. Thanks! As far as driving, I live in Chicago so its a 20 hr steer and I have driven before but Im concerned about the time I'll have off from work.

Resolved Question: Backpacking Europe...How Much Will This Cost Me?

Me and a buddy of mine are planning to backpack Europe next summer, in specific we want to look Belgium, the Netherlands, and if possible northern/western Germany. We are looking to spend 3-4 weeks there, most likely tardy July through early August. As we are young, needy college students, we want this trip to be as cost efficient as possible. We are currently planning on sticking with hostels and camping where possible. What would a reasonable cost to this trip including airfare and railway passes? I have heard discounts are available to people below 25, and students in some cases. We are planning on visiting many of the breweries in the region as well, beer being major motif of the trip.

Resolved Question: What percent of the normal airfare is it for friends and family to fly on American Airlines?

I want to fly to Recife, Brazil from Hawaii. A contact of mine who works for American Airlines says he can receive me a friends and family ticket, sometimes called a buddy ticket, to fly on American for a big discount. He says the round trip ticket will cost me about $600. Someone else told me they thought that was too much as those type of tickets are usually 10 percent of the normal fare. So, does American Airlines have these types of tickets, and if so, what is the percentage of the normal fare that they are? Someone else said those tickets only cost what the taxes are. That being the case, what would my ticket to Brazil from Hawaii cost on that basis? Thanks.

Resolved Question: Bridal Show winning - all inclusive honeymoon by Simplicity Gourmet - Is this something I should avoid?

I attended a bridal show on sunday and registered at the Pink Apron Simplicity Gourmet booth for a free every inclusive honeymoon. I was called last night stating that I won a gift package - 2 night 3 day every inclusive honeymoon to my choice of costa rica, dominican republic or mexico. I also receive 2 his and her embroidered aprons and 20% off Invitations thank you notes and wedding accessories. They asked that I attend a cooking preview at a local hotel for 90 min. and they stated that I dont have to purchase there product and still keep my vacation. I was skeptical that this is a scam and so i researched about it on the net. Lots of people say dont go its a scam and cease at the telephone call or receive the call but dont attend the show. Some people go through with the whole thing and go on the vacation - say every they had to pay were taxes, airfare and a reservation fee. If this is like a discounted honeymoon im interested, but if these people are going to be an annoying part of my life even after the trip im not ( i dont want them contacting me afterwards ). I understand they are pushy like sales people are. I guess I just want to know if its a good idea to give it a shot?

Resolved Question: I need help planning an Orlando vacation.?

I've asked a question previously about this and the answers were somewhat helpful. However, they were not completly what I was looking for. Does anyone know of any Orlando hotels that provide transportation to the MCO Airport & Universal for sure?? I would possibly need transportation to Disney as well, but we are going there for one day so I am not too concerned. That's probably another question I should ask...what transportation company is cheap to take to Disney world from my resort? I'm stressing out because we need to book soon. I need a nice place to stay...3 or even 4 star!!! I wanna relax! I really adore how Expedia combines both Airfare and hotel rates together so that it's somewhat affordable. My price range for expedia alone would be no more than $430. Here's what I am looking for in a hotel: pool, 2 QUEEN size beds, shuttle to the airport and parks, maybe a comp breakfast (not requ'd), maybe a spa (not requ'd). It would also be nice to stay somewhere with a little cafe or something tiny in it to keep some bucks. Are there any travel agents or Orlando experts in the home?? I'm feeling a little anxious with time restraints and every. I already hold discounts for theme parks, possible rental car services and Expedia. PLEASE HELP!

Resolved Question: Air travel question ?

Guess the "travel" time from JFK (New York) to Perth, Australia if you book it the long route? (answer below)... My wife Dot and I are starting a Home Travel Agency. We are joining a very big outfit that deals with folks like us who want a home business. I used to work for TWA (Trans World Airlines) 25 years. Before they were sold to American. My job was International reservations for flights, tours, and cars. One day I was playing around with the computer and (at the time) found 25 different airfares between New York City and Los Angeles. Reason being a person can naturally fly non-cease or change flights thru many-many different cities (called "connecting" flights). You can also combine 2 different discount fares and fly "back to back" (Let's use a make believe fare for an example) Let's say a normal coach ticket New York to Los Angeles is $500. But, if we combine a New York "discount" $150 route to St. Louis, Mo. (change our possess bag's or better yet have a tiny carry on bag) and pick up a $200 St. Louis to Los Angeles trip. Yea-yea I know some of you are saying, "Hey, blah-blah-blah !!!" OKAY GANG how about the person who flys "EVERYWEEK" ??? Or every 2 weeks? Let's say Mr. Fly-every-week work's that job for 20 years ? Hey kid's... NOW WE'ER TALKING $156,000 OF OUR PRETEND MONEY GOING DOWN THE DRAIN !!!!! every of you can call the airlines and receive real money if you want. My point is, I just want to show you folks how to keep money. Yes, sometimes fares are around for a short period of time. One time TWA had a $33 special St. Louis to Chicago one way for about a month. Now I'm not supposed to ask for your business here in Yahoo Answers... BUT... I can help a "new" pal with travel information if he or she has an up and coming trip they need help with. My e-mail address is attached to this... what ever it is. every I need is your dates of travel to & from and a list of towns your going to with how much time at each cease. I figure if I can help make your trip a bit better thats half the game won. Your going to find as you call around to different airlines and travel agents (say maybe 10 or 15 or so) your going to feel like you just dug a hole 30' x 50' and 20' deep in your back yard. Some of those agent's can really mess up your head !!!! (Phew-phew !!) >>>> The answer to the question on top is... 39 hours 55 minutes ! As I used to say (almost 95+ times a day) "Thank You for calling TWA, my name is Tom"
